A Junior Player on the Move

12 year-old Jessie Murphy made a big splash earlier this month at the Jon Cox tournament with a 2nd place finish in the girl’s 12 singles. In her semi-final match she took out the number 1 seed in straight sets but unfortunately fell short in a tough three-set performance in the final. However, Jessie was able to rebound the following week by getting to the quarter finals in her first Intermountain Sectional tournament. In the past month, Jessie has seen her ranking improve by nearly 40 spots to a current top 30 sectional ranking. Excellent job Jessie! She is seen here with her proud coach, Ron Steege.
