Welcome to Yoga at Greenwood Athletic and Tennis Club. We invite you to begin or continue your practice here with one of our many styles of Yoga, including Thermal, Kundalini, Vinyasa, Power, Classical Hatha, and Sculpt. GATC offers more than 20 complimentary classes per week, with skilled, certified instructors with more than 100 years of combined Yoga experience. Be sure to bring water and wear comfortable clothing. GATC has community sticky yoga mats available to borrow, but we suggest for hygienic purposes that you bring your own mat. We look forward to seeing you! Namaste. About Our Instructors: These instructors have over 100 years of combined experience and are all nationally certified yoga instructors. Many of them have studied with top trainers, such as Baron Baptiste. They are committed to making your yoga experience at Greenwood Athletic Club more powerful than ever.
Reconnect your mind and body, and awaken your spirit today! WHY THE HEAT? In Thermal Yoga® and Power Yoga, the room is intentionally heated to warm your muscles and allow them to work deeper and safer. The heat heals and helps prevent injuries. It also promotes sweating, which flushes toxins from your body. Higher temperatures improve the function of the nervous system, meaning that messages are carried more rapidly to and from the brain or spinal cord. Warm muscles are more elastic and are less susceptible to injury. Warmer temperatures produce a fluid like stretch that allows greater range of motion. Cold muscles don't absorb shock or impact well and are not adequately stretched so they may be injured more easily.
