OUR CLASSES Pilates is an energizing workout based on six principles: concentration, control, centering, flowing movement, breath and precision. Pilates requires steady discipline and regular practice. The work will enhance your balance, strength, coordination and flexibility; thereby preparing your body and your mind for the rigorous demands of daily life. At GATC, we believe that the depth of the Pilates work is best discovered in the details.
All of the classes listed below (excluding mat classes) require a sign-up and are fee based.
Class Levels
Introductory:
The fundamental Pilates exercises and concepts are taught where no prior reformer experience is required!
Classical Classes C:
L1: Foundation exercises are taught with order, flow and transitions
L2: A class building upon L1 exercises with order, flow and transitions
L3: A stamina building class structured upon L2 exercises with order, flow and transitions
Fusion Classes F:
Open Level: these innovative and challenging classes are based on Pilates principles and emphasize balance, core control, precision, strength, flexibility and movement efficiency. These classes often utilize Pilates props like bands, weights, power circles and balls
Mat Class: The mat work is the entry into Pilates and includes numerous exercises of varying difficulty and progression that are designed to stretch, strengthen and improve body alignment.
Reformer Class: The most widely known and versatile apparatus. Its unique combination of springs, pulleys, straps and sliding carriage make it an incredibly valuable and useful piece of equipment to strengthen the powerhouse (core) and increase flexibility. Tower Class: On this apparatus, arms, legs and the trunk are challenged against the various spring tensions and positions achievable on this equipment.
Combo Class: Half of the class is taught on the reformer and the other half is taught on the tower.
Chair Class: The chair is used to challenge balance and strengthen the entire body.
Workshops: In these classes you will be working with the same members for 4-6 weeks. Workshops are geared to specific sports, age groups, and or class levels. You need to sign-up for these workshops in advance.
