A Rendezvous With Destiny
You’re crawling through the brush. The wind is in your face, the sweat in your eyes. All you can see in front of you is a hazy maze of tires, logs, and a fence. All obstacles you must overcome in order to obtain the level of fitness you are striving for. Surrounding you are the members of your Company, all pushing towards the same goal, and the voices of your Drill Sergeants commanding that you do more, give more, be more.
This is what it feels like to be a member of Greenwood Athletic and Tennis Club’s highly esteemed Boot Camp programs, including Booty Camp for women only, Snow Camp, and Evening Boot Camp. It’s rough, it’s tough, and you get dirty, but in the end you have covered countless miles throughout the wee hours of the morning, lifted hundreds of pounds of logs, tires, and bodies (on a pallet of course – with others to help you!) over your head, and accomplished more than you ever thought possible.
Boot Camp at GATC is about achieving the best physical version of yourself through a little bit of tough love, and it is also about the connections and relationships that form the bonds that make GATC a very unique and special place to belong.
Jerry Maglio, a longtime member of GATC’s Boot Camp believes that, "Boot Camp is about new beginnings, from the many friendships formed to the renewal of our personal vows to achieve higher levels of health and fitness. It is about people supporting people, where we work together to push past the pain, and the pride that goes with it.”
Drill Sergeants Rob Blue, Tracy Fellows and Darren Meyer combine their unique talents as personal trainers to develop a structured curriculum of military style workouts that shock and challenge the body into condition. Calisthenics, running, drills, water workouts, and obstacle courses combine to make you fit while having fun.
“The people who complete Boot Camp are the definition of motivation and dedication,” says Sergeant Rob. “I gladly go with them on the journey towards fitness and confidence, to arrive, just as the members of the 101 Airborne, at a RENDEZVOUS WITH DESTINY.”
Sign up. Go hard or go home. Be a part of something. Be a part of GATC’s Boot Camp.
