The locker display has been removed from the lobby to make room for the weight room and business office expansion display. Sample locks are still located at both the front and activity desk for you to practice.
The new expansion display inludes three easels showing renderings of both the inside and outside spaces of the expansion. Please look over the display and let me know if you have any questions.
The Locker Q & A and Expansion Q & A are both still available on the home page of the website and at various locations throughout the club.

Please be sure and view the display in the lobby of the new lockers to be installed in the men’s and women’s locker rooms. The display includes a picture of the lockers and the color choices for the locker doors, inside, and solid surface counter tops for the towel drops and vanities.
I have received questions about the lighting in the locker rooms and if it will change because the lockers are darker than the current lockers. At this point we are going to use the lighting system currently in place and once the lockers are installed we will determine if we need to add lights in locations throughout the locker rooms.
The current lighting system is placed inside a box on top of the lockers with an egg-crate grate on top of the box. This box limits the amount of light and we believe by removing the lights from the box that it will actually create more light than currently exists.
Please be sure and pick up a copy of the Locker Q & A located at the display in the lobby or click on Locker Q & A near the Expansion blog on the website. Thank you.

We are putting together a Q & A of frequently asked questions concerning the expansion and remodel of the weight room and business/membership office. A hard copy will be available at both the front and activity desk in addition to a posting on the home page of the website. I anticipate we will have the Q & A available the beginning of next week.
In the mean time I wanted to offer some additional information about the expansion. It will be a two-story expansion with 2400 additional square feet in the weight room (1st floor) and 2400 additional square feet in the business/membership office (2nd floor). In addition to the expansion, we will be remodeling 7200 square feet of the existing weight room and stretching area and approximately 2000 square feet of the business/membership office.
The expansion is not only bigger but it’s better. The new weight room will include windows on three sides, therefore allowing natural light to flow through the entire weight room. We will be adding or replacing a few pieces of weight equipment but a big goal is to allow more space in the weight room and create more stretching and functional training areas. We will be replacing the ceiling tiles and light fixtures and will be adding some dimension to the ceiling with “painted clouds”. The current rubber floor and carpet will be replaced with Ramflex Mondo flooring in a light maple color giving the look of hardwood but the function of rubber. The area will be finished off with new paint in warm greys and accent colors.
The business/membership office will include more productive office spaces to better serve our members and guests in addition to some much needed conference room space.
There will be an architectural rendering and finish selection of both spaces in the lobby next week.
Despite the snow today, the construction company was still able to perform some excavation of the area. Please remember, for your safety it is a hard hat area and is open to construction crews only.

We had anticipated mobilization of the construction company the week of April 28 and ground-breaking the week of May 5. I am pleased to say that we are on schedule and will begin some demolition of the existing space the week of April 28. You will start to see grading and excavating equipment including bobcats and backhoe’s. There may be times when the noise levels outside increase due to saw-cutting, etc. Thank you.

SPIN ROOM FLOOR
We finished our first construction project of the year…the installation of a new Ramflex Mondo floor in the spin room. I want to thank each of you for your patience and cooperation as we had to move bikes, move classes, etc. I hope each of you have had a chance to spin on the new floor. It looks great and is much better for your health.
LOCKERS
We are anticipating an install date of anywhere from late May through June for the men’s and women’s athletic club lockers. We will have a display board set up in the lobby about two weeks prior to the install so you can see the lockers, learn how to use the new locks, etc. For those of you who hold Executive full or half lockers, you will be receiving a letter from Lisa Thomas with information on when we need you to vacate your locker so we can change out your old locker for a new locker. The good news is that all work will be done in the evening hours after we are closed.
CONTRACTOR MOBILIZATION
i2 Construction is the contractor for the weight room and business office expansion. They will be mobilizing the week of April 28 with the installation of construction fencing, equipment, etc. They will be located in the first row of parking on the east side of the building adjacent to the handicap parking stalls. This allows them the closest access to the construction site. This area of the parking lot will not be available for parking through the end of September, beginning of October. We realize the impact this will place on close proximity parking. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we “Make the Best Part of Your Day…Even Better”.
GRADING AND EXCAVATING
We will be breaking ground the week of May 5 with grading and excavating. You can expect to see construction equipment in the mobilization area and the grass area to the south and east of the building (adjacent to outdoor
tennis court #1).
TENNIS PLAYERS
We will do our best to keep all five outdoor tennis courts in full operation during the construction. Please know that courts 1 and 2 are adjacent to the construction site and will incurr dust and noise at various times during the construction. After April 28, access to court 1 will be through court 2.

We received approval for a Site Plan Ammendment at the City of Greenwood Village Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. This approval was the first in a line of approvals needed to move forward with the expansion of the weight room and business office areas. We will be submitting plans to the City of Greenwood Village Building Department within the next couple weeks. We are still hoping to break ground on the expansion in May.

Greenwood Athletic and Tennis Club
Making The Best Part of Your Day… Even Better!
Continuous Improvement - I am honored and proud to say that in the last four years, Greenwood Athletic and Tennis Club has spent an average of nearly $1.6 million annually on capital improvements (the industry standard being $300,000). You have seen these improvements in the outdoor pool, weight room equipment, cardiovascular equipment, HVAC replacement and upgrades and tennis club repairs and remodels. 2008 will bring the expansion of the weight room and membership offices, indoor pool remodel and men’s and women’s locker upgrades just to name a few. Please be on the lookout for construction communication beginning in early April. We will be launching this blog to help us communicate daily updates and to create an avenue for you to ask questions, make comments, etc. In addition to the blog will be updates via the FYI, email blasts and a construction table in the lobby. These improvements, along with our elevated service training are ways we are striving to ‘Make your club even better’. Thank you for choosing Greenwood Athletic and Tennis Club as your place for fitness. We won’t let you down!
